Project Serve allows kids to experience the joy of serving others. Kids and their families are invited to participate in service projects on church grounds and in the surrounding communities once a quarter.

Some past projects have included serving at the "A-May-Zing Mundelein" community service day, hosting parties for the residents of the Midlothian Manor retirement home, and doing autumn yard clean-up days for Alpine families.

March 14 – Midlothian Manor Residents’ Party

Thank You from Midlothian Manor: “To the good folks from Alpine Chapel. The residents and staff want to thank you for your visit on March 14. We enjoyed the music and the flower pens. You all are very thoughtful. Please visit us again real soon.” With love, Gennie, Barbara, Bernice, Bill, Ken and Pete of Midlothian Manor.

August 22 – Gleaners for the Lord Gather the leftover corn at a McHenry farm for hungry families in Northern Illinois.

"When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest...

November – Operation Christmas Child Prepare shoe box gifts to “bring Christmas” to needy children around the world.

One of our recent PROJECT SERVE events... "Gleaners for the LORD" Gleaning: Harvesting the crops left by the reapers..."

This Downers Grove-based charity organizes crop-harvesting events at local farms, and distributes the picked crops directly to the hungry. We had 21 alpiners show up to Gleaners for the Lord for Adventure Village's Project Serve program. This was the largest group that they'd had at the event all summer (not to mention the largest Project Serve outing). Together, we gathered over 100 bags of corn - that's over 3000 pounds- in two hours! We also gathered about 20 bags of eggplant. All of this food would have been plowed over by the farmers and just gone to rot unless we had gathered it...many families can eat better this week because of our efforts. Also, everyone got to sample some delicious fresh corn, fresh watermelon, apple cider donuts, and have lots of fun! We hope to do it again next summer, or perhaps more regularly, as they meet every Saturday during harvest time at the Stade Dairy Farm and always need the help!
